The year is a few days away from ending, and the eager anticipation for 2026 is palpable. In the past few days, many have been flocking to revisit Christmas movies and shows on streaming to get into the holiday spirit, while others have preferred to enjoy the best of 2025, including this action-packed gem. As the most adored WWII drama of the year, Sisu: Road to Revenge is a spectacularly violent film boasting a Certified Fresh 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. The past few weeks have seen the film at the center of attention on multiple streamers, and now, it’s trending once more on another platform despite flopping at the box office.
Amid Christmas week, Sisu 2 is among the most popular movies on Amazon in the U.S., ranking #20, while the fan-favorite Christmas movie The Grinch tops the chart. This comes just a few days after it ranked among the 10 most-watched titles on the domestic Apple TV charts. Written and directed by Jalmari Helander, Road to Revenge is a sequel to Sisu, which was released in 2022 to glowing reviews and also written and directed by Helander.
In Sisu 2, Jorma Tommila reprises his role from the first film as Aatami Korpi, with Richard Brake and Stephen Lang also starring. The movie premiered at the Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2025, before hitting U.S. theaters on November 21, courtesy of Sony Pictures Releasing through Stage 6 Films and Screen Gems. Additionally, it was produced by Petri Jokiranta and Mike Goodridge for Subzero Film Entertainment and Good Chaos, respectively, with Eric Charles overseeing for Sony’s Stage 6 Films.
‘Sisu 2’ Had a Disappointing Box Office Run
Compared to Sisu, which performed relatively well at the box office, Road to Revenge hasn’t been much of a commercial success. The sequel was released alongside Wicked: For Good and grossed only $2.6 million in its opening weekend despite a significantly wider release than its predecessor. Recent reports confirm that it has now grossed $9.5 million against its $12.2 million production budget. In the meantime, for those looking forward to another Sisu movie, Helander previously shared: “I like to think that this is a very beautiful ending for the story of Aatami Korpi. But at the same time, you never know. Some day, I might have an idea for the third one. Let’s see.”
