Welcome to 2026! Watch With Us is spotlighting Amazon Prime Video and some of the movie masterpieces currently available to watch on its fantastic platform.

If you’re still recovering from New Year’s Eve and just want to watch some high-quality movies, we’ve got you covered.

Our picks include the uproarious crime comedy Burn After Reading, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, a controversial Kirsten Dunst drama about love, marriage and the end of the world and 2024’s viral sports drama Challengers.

‘Burn After Reading’ (2008)

When a CD containing the memoir of unemployed, former CIA analyst Osborne Cox (John Malkovich) falls into the hands of gym employees Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) and Chad Feldheimer (Pitt), the two dunderheads mistake it for top-secret government information. The pair tries to leverage the disc as blackmail to get Linda the cosmetic surgery she pines for, but in predictable, Coen brothers fashion, a comedy of errors ensues involving accidents, misunderstandings and foiled plots that spiral outward and suck everyone in.

Featuring a fantastic ensemble cast that includes George Clooney, Richard Jenkins, Tilda Swinton and J.K. Simmons, Burn After Reading is one of the comedic high points in the Coen brothers’ filmography. The ungainly but tightly-plotted espionage farce narrative stands in stark contrast to the brothers’ previous film, No Country For Old Men, only proving that the Coens can slide between deadly serious drama and comic absurdity with the greatest ease. Plus, Burn After Reading further proves the comedic chops of heartthrobs Clooney and Pitt.

‘Melancholia’ (2011)

On the day of Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael’s (Alexander Skarsgärd) wedding, a rogue planet named “Melancholia” — initially thought to be a star called Antares — begins its collision course for Earth, at the same time that Justine sinks into a deep depression, cheats on Michael and calls off their marriage. When it is revealed that everyone on Earth will perish in the imminent collision, Justine and her sister, Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg), cope with their impending deaths in very different ways, as Claire descends into panic while Justine accepts her fate.

The second installment in director Lars von Trier’s so-called “Depression Trilogy,” Melancholia might seem on the surface like an extremely dour film. And, well, it is, but it’s not just sadness for the sake of it. Melancholia is, instead, a genuinely beautiful and elegiac look at existential dread and an empathetic take on mental illness, in a film in which a cynical and catastrophizing person suddenly finds their outlook justified. The film is also a showcase for a powerhouse performance from Dunst, who offers a stunningly realized interpretation of depression.

‘Challengers’ (2024)

Young tennis prodigy Tashi Duncan (Zendaya) was going to be the best of the best, until a career-ending accident caused her to give up her goals in favor of coaching her husband, Art Donaldson (Mike Faist), into becoming an international tennis-playing success. But when Art finds himself in a slump and suffering from a series of losses, Tashi forces him into a low-level “challengers’ competition — where he’ll be competing with their old friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend, Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor). Challengers charts the trio’s tumultuous thirteen-year relationship, chronicling the steamy intersection between sex and sportsmanship.

With a taut screenplay, erotically charged lead performances and a heart-pounding score courtesy of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Challengers is handily one of the best, most entertaining and hottest sports dramas of all time. While the frenetic pacing and time jumps may make your head spin, Challengers is an incredibly gratifying and energized portrait of love triangle sexual tension as well as a refreshing drop in the pond of a media landscape filled with sex but hardly any eroticism.
