Rapper and mogul 50 Cent has recently shared a promo video on his social media and it involves the Super Bowl but in a way that the light was out, and the audience reacted hilariously to it. The short video which was supposed to excite the viewers for the Super Bowl, instead, displayed a rare technical error, which 50 Cent himself expressed with a laughing emoji and the heading “Turn off the lights”.

What was it??—an adrenaline rush filled clip in a flash with Super Bowl 16 as the deep topic. 50 Cent who is basically a performer was the one to initiate the excitement. “Ladies and gentlemen, are you all set for the great fight of Super Bowl 16?” he asks in the video. “Is the thrill, the adrenaline, the excitement there with you?” And just at that moment when the excitement reached its peak, the lights were turned off. The sound changed to the confused “what the hell? No, I’m not the light right?” The ad was done, asphyxiated by what looked like a trivial power cut. The guy, Curtis Jackson, who for a very long time rendered himself invincible was not that at all in the case of this portrayal when he posted the entire thing with a crying-laughing emoji. “Turn off the lights” was his caption. It was a perfect self-mockery with a punch from the guy who has a second career in trolling everyone, even his own self.
As expected, the audience’s reaction was quick and funny. The community not only witnessed the incident but also participated in it. The most common speculation was that 50 Cent just did not settle the bill. A user made a humorous remark saying, “He did pay the light bill… he has only $69.50,” which indirectly referred to the title of one of 50’s major hits. Someone else gave a more global perspective to the adverse event: “GOD don’t like ugly. That’s why He cut them lights off.” Another person supported the view that “50 didn’t pay the bill, the electric company is punishing him even more than he is.” It is the type of humor that is only possible because of 50’s larger-than-life persona—the Down-and-out hustler brought low by a utility firm.

The blackout also sparked jokes about the electricity bill being due, but at the same time brought back memories, and people started making appeals. A user complimented the moment saying, “Man I had some badass g-unit gear when I was a teenager,” while another was begging him “50 we need another bulletproof 🎮,” referring to his classic video game icon. The hot topic of the day led to questions about his other projects as people were keen to know if he was done with his hit Starz drama series: “When is we getting raising kanan???” and “we are watching Tommy Egan’s force. Omg don’t let it end.” This connects to his work on Force.
Yet, in the midst of the laughter and the questions, a more intelligent query kept surfacing regarding his musical hiatus. “But when you gone rap my boy… if you scared just say that ..,” a user was being bold. Another one actually admitted, “So you quit music for good.” It is the such a stronghold of his that even when he is posting a screw-up, people are still clamoring for his new music. The clip even yielded some body-friendly solidarity when a user declared “lmao 50 cent was my inspiration for a six pack long time ago now I’m glad we both have the same dad bod 😂.”

Ultimately, the failed promotion garnered more attention than a successful one. It was authentic, funny, and it resulted in everybody being engaged in a talk. It made sure to portray 50 Cent’s unique character to the fullest—part mogul, part online joke, and entirely unpredictable. He took a public mistake with a humorous touch and it was his way of exhibiting that he had mastered the situation with the highest professionalism. The lights may have gone out, but the engagement was definitely on. In other news, he recently shared Uncle Murda’s 2025 wrap-up. He also knows how to handle business, as seen when Jim Jones had to pay back rent. Off the court, he showed up for a Saints game with cognac in hand.
