Emily Ratajkowski had a very cheeky birthday cake for her 34th — and she has no regrets.
The author shared video from her “cake-themed birthday” via Instagram on Sunday, June 8. She kicked things off with a clip showing her with a birthday cake designed to look like a thong-clad derriere, courtesy of a surprise from her friends. The video also showed plenty of dancing and birthday-related shenanigans in Ratajkowski’s apartment.
“I don’t have a voice because I had that much fun,” Ratajkowski narrated the video. “This is when we first started setting up. Sly has been helping [with] cleaning up and there is the cake arriving. My friends surprised me with it.”
“Now let’s get into the real cake and yes, this clip is going to be three seconds too long because I’m proud of my twerking,” she continued. “You know I’m a Gemini so actually Leo Rising and Aries Moon, if that means anything to any of you all, basically means that I was destined to love my birthday, which I do. I basically consider it a national holiday and that’s why we had to have a good-ass time and now I’m sharing the most important cake once again. Thank you so much for coming and being on this journey.”
Ratajkowski certainly seems to have emotionally rebounded after she got what she described as “the worst haircut of my life” earlier this year. In March, she shared an update on the methods she’d been using to make the unfortunate cut work.
After she explained she now had “bangs starting from the back of [her] head,” Ratajkowski said she’d attempted to blow out her hairstyle with a Dyson Airdrop before she realized that wouldn’t work. She also tried a curling iron and noted, “Apparently curling it hides bad haircuts.”
“I knew it was a bad haircut when my friends were low-key concerned that I was stepping outside and wasn’t more upset. They were concerned for my mental health.” Ratajkowski also said that they called her look “brave” and a “thrill-seeker.”
While she added that she was happy to try out curly hair, the overall look was still not great. “One word I’d like to never hear again is ‘shaggy.’ It’s just too short, man,” she explained.
Ratajkowski also said that she’d worked with the hair stylist before and just didn’t like the cut because it didn’t feel like her. “The very nice man who did this to me, I think he was going British shaggy, but the main thing is that it’s not me,” she added.
