With season 3 of the show proving as popular as the first two, Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 has officially been greenlit, and here’s what we know so far. The series has garnered several comparisons to the Netflix show Virgin River, and with good reason. Both shows are based on different series of novels by Robyn Carr, set in small towns, and feature female protagonists in the medical field who move to those small towns to process the trauma of their past – and, along the way, find love.
After Sullivan’s Crossing season 2 ended with the fire at Rob’s (Reid Price) diner and Maggie (Morgan Kohan) losing the baby, Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 has placed a big focus on Rob rebuilding his life and Maggie getting over her grief to grow closer to Cal (Chad Michael Murray) – but not without tension. As for Cal, he finally made peace with his past, and his father. Elsewhere in the town, new romances were kindled with Sully (Scott Patterson) striking up a love connection with Helen (Kate Vernon), and Lola (Amalia Williamson) finding a potential match in Jacob Cranebear (Joel Oulette). However, season 3 ended with several new complications and one shocking cliffhanger.
Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4 Has Been Confirmed
Season 4 Depended On Season 3’s Performance
To the relief of fans, Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 was officially confirmed in June. Sullivan’s Crossing is a co-production between Canada’s CTV and the United States’ CW, which always makes the renewal process a little more complicated for the series. Following Sullivan’s Crossing season 2, for example, CTV renewed the series for Canadian audiences in June 2024, while it was not renewed by the CW for American audiences until December of that same year.
Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 began airing in Canada in April 2025 and in the U.S. in May 2025.
Much of its renewal hopes boiled down to cost and ratings. Clearly, CW and CTV liked what they saw with Sullivan’s Crossing season 3’s ratings, seeing that CW renewed it much more quickly this time rather than making audiences wait for the news. While it appears season 3 may be a little under Sullivan’s Crossing season 2’s ratings (via TV Series Finale), it was still enough to get the go-ahead for season 4. It’s also been announced that in July, Netflix will start streaming Sullivan’s Crossing alongside the other adaptation of Robyn Carr’s books, Virgin River.
Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4 Cast
The Cast Is Not Expected To Have Major Changes
Though Sullivan’s Crossing is a drama that is not afraid to use a few plot twists to keep the viewers on their toes, the cast has remained mostly intact through the first three seasons. It is likely that the main cast of characters, which includes Hallmark Channel staple Morgan Kohan as series star Maggie Sullivan, will remain on board. Recurring throughout the series are also Lindura (Believe In Christmas) as Sydney Shandon, Reid Price as Rob Shandon, Dakota Taylor as Rafe Vadas, and Amalia Williamson (Northern Rescue) as Lola Gunderson, who have all seen their roles expanded, especially this season. They will likely return for Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 as well, barring any major series shakeups.

Several newcomers also joined the Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 cast, and it appears that at least a few of them might stick around. Rob’s new girlfriend, Jane (Cindy Sampson), appears to be around for the long haul, as does Helen. We’ll almost certainly also be seeing more of Chief Cooper at the fire station. It’s possible we’ll also see Jacob Cranebear again, and the season 3 finale introduced a new character in the form of Liam, who will definitely be sticking around next season, considering the bomb he dropped at the end of the finale.
What Happened In The Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 Finale
It Ended On A Shocking Plot Twist
The Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 finale found just about every relationship at a crossroads. Rob and Jane were the only two who had smooth sailing, with them deciding to move it to the next level and fully commit to being in a relationship. Sully and Helen also ended on a happy note, with Helen surprising Sully by showing up on his doorstep and asking him to go to Ireland with her, reminding him that he has to live his life and not remain stuck in the past. In a sign of growth for Sully, he agreed, and he’ll be going with her, leaving the Crossing behind for the first time in decades. Edna and Frank were also happier than ever in Sullivan’s Crossing now that Edna’s surgery to remove her brain tumor was successful.
Other relationships, however, didn’t fare as well. Rafe and Sydney seem poised to break up in Sullivan’s Crossing season 4; though Sydney told Rafe she never wants to be married, Rafe realized that marriage is something he really wants. Another dealbreaker got in the way of Lola and Jacob’s blossoming relationship. Jacob’s advisor called and informed him he’d have to return to Alberta to finish his degree. Though he offered to defer his studies for two years until Lola finishes school, wisely, Lola told him that wasn’t a good idea. Jacob ultimately realized she’s right, though the door is tentatively open for them, with the pair ending on good terms and agreeing to stay in touch.

Sullivan’s Crossing Season 3 Lost The Show’s Best Antagonist (But It Needed To Happen)
Sullivan’s Crossing only has a few antagonists, but one of them has experienced growth that helps them move on from that role in season 3.
Lastly, Maggie and Cal were finally in a good spot, only for a bomb to drop on them. After seeing how happy she was after performing Edna’s surgery, Cal suddenly started worrying that he was holding Maggie back from her career. It appeared they were heading for a breakup, until Maggie had the epiphany that it wasn’t being a neurosurgeon that fulfilled her, but helping people. She proposed her solution to Cal: She’d stay in Timberlake and open up her own general practice. At that moment, however, a strange man showed up, and that is when we learned that he’s Maggie’s husband. Cue him looking uncomfortable, Cal demanding that Maggie explain, and Maggie looking like a deer caught in the headlights as the season ended.
Sullivan’s Crossing Season 4 Story
Maggie’s Surprise Husband, Liam, Will Be The Big Story
It’s that shocking cliffhanger that will obviously be the big storyline of Sullivan’s Crossing season 4. Cal was as shocked as we felt watching as the audience. No one knew that Maggie had a husband – not even, it seems, her own father. Surely, had anyone else known, it would have come up previously. It’s especially odd considering the fact that Maggie had been engaged to Andrew for the first two seasons and is now in love with and living with Cal in Sullivan’s Crossing season 3.
No one knew that Maggie had a husband – not even, it seems, her own father. Surely, had anyone else known, it would have come up previously.
It seems as though this man, Liam, was someone to whom Maggie had been married briefly, and perhaps she didn’t even know they technically were still married. She had mentioned earlier this season that he was just a summer fling, so maybe it was a wild night in Vegas she doesn’t remember. It sure seems like it’s something she should have mentioned to Cal before, though. Liam’s sudden appearance is bound to cause problems. Likewise, there are those aforementioned questions about the other relationships.
It also seems as though Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 may see a bit of a time jump. Though this hasn’t been confirmed, it’s hard to imagine the show without Scott Patterson’s Sully being around. So, unless the upcoming season splits storylines between Timberlake and Ireland, it seems most likely that season 4 will pick up after he returns from his trip. As the season 3 finale showed, it’s never wise to relax with this series because there’s always a twist waiting to happen.
