Tyler, The Creator Recorded His Clipse Guest Verse Almost 100 Times

Tyler, The Creator has revealed that he recorded his guest verse on Clipse‘s “P.O.V.” up to 100 times in an effort to get it right.

Speaking on Hot 97, Tyler detailed the extreme lengths he went to to ensure he didn’t let Pusha T and No Malice down, as well as Pharrell Williams who produced the track.

He said: “It took me about 79 to 100 times to do it, and I almost texted Pusha, ‘I don’t think this is gonna work.’ It’s been a few times I’ve gotten nervous and trying to nail that verse with two of my Mount Rushmores, produced by Mount Rushmore, was like I can’t fuck this up for me.”

Tyler added that he kept Pusha waiting for the verse: “It took me so long to write that and just trying to perfect it … Was really in that bitch sweating. That n-gga Pusha sent me that before I went on tour, probably in April and I ain’t get him that shit until end of May, early June.”

He concluded by saying: “I was trying to record that verse for so long. Then it came out and people liked it. When I did not fuck up the song, n-gga, ooh.”

As well as providing a verse for the Clipse, Tyler has been busy releasing his own new album, the surprise drop Don’t Tap the Glass which has found itself topping the Billboard 200 becoming his fourth successive album to do so.

On a shortened release week as Don’t Tap the Glass dropped on a Monday, the album still managed to total 197,000 equivalent units sold.

Surprisingly for albums in 2025, this number was largely thanks to physical sales of the LP with Tyler making various bundles available through his website.

However, the final tally is below initial expectations for the album with midweek estimations predicting Don’t Tap the Glass would pull in 215,000 equivalent sales in its first week.

It is also a fairly steep decrease from Chromakopia, which Tyler released last year.

That widely acclaimed album debuted to 299,000 equivalent units for the biggest sales week of Tyler’s career with it also reaching number one on the Billboard 200.
