Meters OV-1-B-Connect: Excellent Sound with a Bold Design

If you’re looking for a set of headphones that will stand out from the pack while serving up a powerful audio experience, look no further than the Meters OV-1-B-Connect.  These artfully designed cans have a cool retro vibe bolstered by fully functioning VU gauges on each ear cup that light up in an array of adjustable colors and brightness levels. Yet for as bold and unique as they look, Meters headphones have substance. They deliver superb sound with commanding bass tones, clear vocals and sharp instrumentation. Which means regardless of what kind of music you like – we tested Pixies, Martin Garrix, The Menzingers, Wu-Tang Clan and Zac Bryan – you’ll be in awe of their warm sound and low end.

The latter is helped by the fact that the Meters Connect app comes with a 5-band equalizer that lets you tweak your music, whether you want to stream via Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX and aptX HD support or opt for the wired 3.5 mm cable. So, if you prefer a lower mid-range and more treble in the mix, you can customize yours to perform exactly how you want. This attention to detail makes perfect sense when you consider that Meters’ over-ear headphones were crafted in the U.K. and have the approval of a roster of artists including Metallica, Slash, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Depp and The Black Crowes.

As for their construction, OV-1-B-Connect headphones feel super-sturdy and are made from a premium mix of aluminum and high-grade plastic. They’re foldable, feature adjustable headbands with plush padding and comfy leatherette earcups. While they aren’t exactly compact, if you’re an audiophile and a tastemaker confident enough to rock these throughout your day, they will get you noticed.

Naysayers might argue the point of the VU meters, since they can’t be seen by the user when wearing them without a mirror nearby. But the same could be said for a favorite pair of sunglasses that make you look fantastic. You can’t see yourself in them without a mirror either. Couple that with additional features like Active Noise Cancellation and a 16-hour battery life with ANC enabled and you’ve got a stellar looking set of high quality headphones with outstanding sound.
