Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle‘s box office numbers are poised to touch the fringes of MCU-level success as its global earnings continue to increase. The anime feature has currently generated $353 million worldwide, and it won’t be long until it surpasses Avengers: Endgame‘s domestic opening record from 2019. While it’s unlikely Demon Slayer will gross billions at the box office, the film has already surpassed many blockbusters in Japan, and there is a chance it can do the same in the West.
In 2019, Avengers: Endgame generated $357 million during its opening, and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is just around $4 million away from surpassing that target. Avengers: Endgame is the final installment of the Infinity Saga of the MCU, where our heroes come together to beat Thanos and save the universe that was wiped out in the events of Avengers: Infinity War. In a way, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle shares a similar premise as this feature covers the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan and his army. However, Infinity Castle ends on a cliffhanger, and fans will have to wait to see how the battle ends.
How Successful Is ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’?
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is the first of three installments that cover Demon Slayer‘s “Final Battle” arc. It was first released in Japan on July 18 and has become the second-highest-grossing film in the country, just behind the 2020 hit, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train. Since its U.S. release, the film has earned $70 million at the domestic box office, surpassing a previous record of $31 million held by Pokémon: The First Movie. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was highly praised by fans and critics alike, earning a high 98% critics’ and audience score.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures have declared on social media that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has become the “Biggest anime opening weekend of all time in North America,” the “No. 1 film in North America,” and the “No. 1 film Globally.” However, it has yet to beat Mugen Train’s worldwide box office gross of $486 million. At the same time, it’s currently the 13th highest-grossing film of 2025, sitting between Sinners and The Conjuring: Last Rites.
