On September 15th, I stood in a room filled with Hollywood stars, advocates, and survivors at the grand opening of Iris Wings Sanctuary for Endometriosis Surgery & Wellness in Beverly Hills. Founded by the extraordinary Dr. Iris Kerin Orbuch, this sanctuary is more than a medical center — it is a promise of healing for women who for far too long have felt unseen and unheard.
For me, this was not just another event. It was deeply personal.
I know what it’s like to sit across from doctors and feel fear outweigh hope. I’ve battled fibroids, undergone a myomectomy, and been told to “have children quickly” before it was too late. Before surgery, I had to sign a waiver acknowledging that I might wake up having lost my uterus — my ability to ever carry children — without my consent. I’ll never forget conversations with specialists, who confirmed how limited the research and resources truly are for women like me. The system has not always been kind to us.
That is why Iris Wings feels revolutionary. It is the kind of place women have been praying for.
The evening itself was filled with light and love. Actress Corinne Foxx, who has bravely shared her own battle with endometriosis, joined Dr. Kerin Orbuch on the red carpet. Together they were joined by Jasmine Goode (The Valley), Courtney Ford, and Havilah Malone, all of whom lent their voices and presence to shine a light on this often-misunderstood disease that affects 1 in 10 women.. Their presence was a reminder that none of us are alone in this journey.
Guests enjoyed nourishing bites by Celebrity Chef Nikki Martin and wellness gifts from All Moringa, Timebeam, Dr. Amie Fixxr Supplements, Beam, Magic Mind, and Kunda Wellness. Yet, what lingered most was not the glamour but the solidarity — the collective acknowledgement that our pain is real, our voices matter, and our healing is possible.
Dubbed a “Beverly Hills sanctuary” by Forbes, Iris Wings provides expert excision surgery alongside integrative, whole-body care. Dr. Kerin Orbuch, a fellowship-trained surgeon, best-selling author of Beating Endo: How to Reclaim Your Life from Endometriosis, and a central voice in the groundbreaking documentary Below the Belt, has dedicated her life to making sure women get the answers and treatment they deserve.
Walking away from the celebration, I felt a mix of relief and hope. Relief that spaces like Iris Wings now exist. Hope that no woman will ever again feel dismissed, minimized, or forgotten in her pain.
For every woman who has been told it’s “all in your head,” for those who have lost their fertility too soon, and for those still searching for answers: Iris Wings is proof that change is here.
We are seen. We are heard. And thanks to places like this, we are finally healing.
