Spider-Man fans may finally know who Sadie Sink is playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The latest rumor for Spider-Man: Brand New Day suggests she’ll be playing a surprisingly obscure character.
There has been quite a lot of speculation about what role Sadie Sink will be playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actress is one of the most prominent young names in the industry right now, so it would make sense that she plays a big role in the MCU. Some popular ideas for her character include Jean Grey, Mayday Parker, and even The Punisher’s Sidekick.
However, the truth may be a lot more confusing than many may have expected. A rumor from scooper Majestic suggests that Sadie Sink will be taking on the role of Shathra in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In the comics, Shathra is an entity associated with the Web of Life and Destiny, which connects all heroes in the Spider-Verse. Given the MCU is in its Multiverse Saga, the connection is sound.
Who Is Shathra In Spider-Man?
Shathra’s original story focused on her as a villain, seeking to reshape the Multiverse into her own nest. Yet if this rumor is to be believed, she may be a much more heroic figure in the MCU. The post goes on to suggest that Sadie Sink’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be setting up the hero for Doctor Doom’s invasion, as well as the finale in Secret Wars.
“Shathra would detect that Doctor Doom is manipulating the Web to save his reality from an Incursion. That interference would be the first sign of the total collapse of the Multiverse. Before the collapse, Shathra would test Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, giving him ‘the worst week of his life’ to see if he can become her champion when Secret Wars begins.”
“The movie would function as a modern version of ‘the labors of Hercules,’ but applied to Spider-Man. There would be no traditional villain: it’s a challenge to Peter’s soul and will before the end of the Multiverse.”
If this rumor is true, Shathra seems to be the perfect compromise between wanting a street-level story in Spider-Man: Brand New Day while still tying it to the Multiverse Saga. It would also explain why Marvel cast someone like Sadie Sink, as the character will likely be pivotal in upcoming event movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31st, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future!
