One of the key X-Men characters returning in Avengers: Doomsday just got a perfect MCU setup thanks to the franchise’s latest release. The cast of Avengers: Doomsday already promises to be an expansive and exciting one, with figures from all corners of the franchise’s current mythos having been confirmed to make appearances in the upcoming MCU movie.
However, some of these characters have had more of a direct setup and storyline in the run-up to Avengers: Doomsday than others, especially as the X-Men and Fantastic Four have effectively only just returned to Marvel’s live-action movie sphere in the franchise’s latest releases. Promisingly, the MCU has just paved the way for one of the X-Men characters we currently know least about going into Avengers: Doomsday to have more of a backdrop established for them and their powers despite all this.
The MCU’s Newest Power Reveal Perfectly Paves The Way For Nightcrawler’s Avengers: Doomsday Debut
With the return of several key X-Men characters impending in Avengers: Doomsday, it’s all the more interesting to note how the MCU is handling some of the last figures to be introduced before the December 2026 film, and how they relate to this matter.
Notably, Wonder Man introducing another hero whose powers involve teleportation is especially pressing to note here, given we already know Marvel’s main teleporting superhero, Nightcrawler, is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday – meaning the time spent detailing Doorman’s powers and how teleportation abilities can work in the universe help to set the stage for Kurt Wagner’s debut.
Wonder Man episode 4’s depiction of Doorman does underline how his teleportation powers aren’t exactly the same as Nightcrawler’s own – with DeMarr Davis instead being capable of creating a teleportation portal with his body that others can use to travel through space. However, this still expands far more directly on what this type of power is like in the MCU, and how it can be used as well.
Doorman & Nightcrawler’s Powers Highlight An Exciting Direction For The MCU
Opening up the MCU to explore more about powers like the ability to teleport is especially exciting given the potential it unlocks for the franchise. The MCU hasn’t been afraid to delve into some more unconventional abilities thus far in its run, but the increasing presence of the X-Men in this multiverse should set the stage with an even wider assortment of powerful characters, and characters with more unusual abilities.
Relying on characters with superstrength and resilience made sense for much of the earlier era of the MCU, wherein this was still a novelty of sorts that could be demonstrated in several different ways, and blended well with establishing the overarching universe overall.
Now, though, seeing powers like teleportation become more commonplace can allow the MCU to become an even richer landscape in terms of the types of characters it has, and the stories it can tell with these characters. This can be used to make fight scenes even more striking – as will no doubt be the case for Avengers: Doomsday – or simply used to show off how larger-than-life a world wherein people can do things like warp around would truly be.
