LEGO has unveiled Snoopy’s Doghouse, the very first official set based on the Peanuts comic. Now available to pre-order for a release on Monday, June 1, the 964-piece set features buildable versions of Charlie Brown’s iconic beagle, the bird Woodstock, his red shelter, typewriter, and more, including the ability to recreate Snoopy and Woodstock roasting marshmallows over a campfire. It will retail for $89.99.
The set was inspired by a design submitted to LEGO Ideas by Robert Becker (aka bossofdos64), which only featured the campfire setting. Marina Stampoli, one of the designers of the final set, said adding the doghouse was a logical decision, because it’s “a big part of Snoopy’s life! You can either display the doghouse with the base or unfold the campfire scene and display it next to the house.”
It includes “two alternative leg builds for sitting and standing,” and “two neck positions for lying down and standing,” allowing fans to recreate creator Charles M. Schulz‘s original artwork of Snoopy lying on top of the doghouse, and using his typewriter. However, it does not appear the set will come with the aviator glasses, hat, and scarf he wears when pretending to be the Flying Ace.
The reveal comes shortly after Peanuts celebrated its 75th anniversary, and Sony announced it would acquire a majority control stake in the property. It is one of a number of LEGO Ideas sets based on non-Marvel or DC comics characters in the works, including a Tintin release based on Explorers on the Moon, and a Yu-Gi-Oh! project that the company is currently seeking submissions for.
Until its release, you can check out more photos of the set below, and on its listing at the official LEGO site.
