    To celebrate the opening of our Comic Book Pop-up shop, you are invited to join Jon and Nich, creators of the brilliant comic book Tiny Hercules, for an interactive workshop of legendary proportions! They’ll share lots of tips on how to make larger-than-life comics and characters of your own, as well as lead a live drawalong of some of their jam jar-sized characters! Suitable for budding artists aged 7 + years

    We bring you life drawing, with a twist! Expect music, art tips and a creative experience, we want to build a fun, vibrant community, so don’t expect your typical silent sketch session. Each session will be focused around a (clothed) Life Model who will feature a range of poses throughout. The idea is to upskill and focus on form. You can do this however you like, with from pens, paints, poscas, or procreate!     Manga and anime are filled with dragons, humans that turn into dragons, and other strange and wonderful creatures. In this workshop you’ll learn how to draw different types and feature them in a page of story artwork.
  • Create a Comic Strip Workshop, Cartoon Museum, Wells Street, Noho. 2pm-3:30pm, age 8-14
    Learn how to design your own cartoon characters and then draw them in a one-page comic strip story. Study best ways and bad ways to draw pictures for comics, and how to do proper speech bubbles. Great for beginners, and fun for those with a little more experience.

Friday, 3rd of April

  •  Workshop- 3rd April: Caricatures – Fun with Faces Cartoon Museum, Wells St. Noho 11am-12.30pm
    Using simple lines and shapes, draw some famous comic characters and real-life people as cartoons. Learn special techniques for drawing cartoon faces and take part in a fun competition where you could win a special prize!

    Whether you’re new to the world of Japanese comics, or if you love manga and anime characters and would like to create your own, we’ll be looking at the basics of drawing manga, creating our own character, and then featuring them in a page of manga artwork.
  • Odnal’s Pral – An Audience With Oepedius Flax and Ex.Mag Volume 6 Launch Party Gosh Comics, Berwick Street, Soho, 7-9pm
    “We’ll be joined by Ex.Mag contributors Gareth Damian Martin and Lando/ Lando is part of the self-publishing collective known as Decadence Comics, co-founded with Stathis Tsemberlidis, and has been an indispensable part of the Gosh! small press shelves for several years. Lando will be releasing his new comic Odnal’s Pral – An Audience With Oepedius Flax, and also contributed a story in the new sci-fi themed Ex.Mag. In addition, we’ll also have new editions of his Garden of Glass book, published by Breakdown Press and ourselves in celebration of our 40th anniversary! Gareth Damian Martin is a games designer, writer and artist who created the astounding Citizen Sleeper and its recently released sequel Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, a personal favourite of mine. They also made In Other Waters, a game that will be celebrating its 6th birthday on this date too! Gareth teamed up with artist Linnea Sterte (A Frog in the Fall, Stages of Rot) for their contribution in Ex.Mag Volume 6. We’ll have an exclusive signed Ex.Mag bookplate to accompany volume 6 too”

    Superheroes are going from strength to super-strength. Learn how to draw some favourite superheroes and create a brand new one of your own. Then we’ll showcase your character on a Marvel-style front cover.
  • Workshop- 7th April: Make a Mini-Comic Cartoon Museum, Wells St. Noho 2-3.30pm
    Lots of comic creators got started by making mini-comics. Learn how to create your own characters and draw them into a special booklet that you'll easily be able to make copies of to give to your friends.
  • Cartoon & Comic Art Workshop, North Harrow Community Library, Harrow, 2:30-3:30pm
    Learn and create a short comic using your imagination in this creative writing session for all ages! Nurture your drawing skills and imagination in this cartoon and comic session for all ages! Optional bookbinding kits £5 lets learners keep their creations in a special handmade book.

Once a month on a Wednesday evening, the shop closes its doors and welcomes the reading group in for an evening discussion of one of our favourite comic books.   • Workshop- 9th April: Spider-Potato Cartoon Museum, Wells St. Noho 2-3.30pm
    A special fun workshop for children aged 5-7. They must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian (at no extra cost). In this session we’ll draw some famous superhero faces using simple lines and shapes. Then we’ll create a silly superhero and draw it onto a blank Marvel-style cover.
  • Publish Your Own Comic, St John’s Wood Library, 10am-12.30pm
    A FREE 2 day comic workshop for children aged 6-13 years, run by a professional comic artist. From Character to comic in two days. Design your own character, write your story, and create a finished comic. Your work will be printed and showcased at the Library Comic Festival on 2nd May. You will be guided through character design, story building, cover design, typography.
  • Comic Book Workshop with Jack Noel, Waterstone Piccadilly. 1-2pm
    To celebrate the opening of our Comic Book Pop-up shop, join award-winning author and illustrator Jack Noel as he brings his hilarious new graphic novel series DADBOT to life! DADBOT is packed with robots, puns, and dastardly dad-napping – ideal for fans of BUNNY VS MONKEY and CAT KID! Jack’s events are full of fun and creativity! He’ll share the secrets behind making graphic novels in his trademark entertaining style, guaranteed to get everyone giggling. Plus, kids can take part in an exciting draw-a-long, creating their very own robot. Suitable for budding artists aged 6 + years
  • Nicola Jennings and Evan Bond sci-fi + caricature workshop, 6:30pm-8:30pm. Cartoon Museum, Wells St. Noho
    In the first half of the workshop, artist Evan Bond will explain how he has created his brand-new Sci-Fi comic and how he manages to merge real life politics and fantasy in his work. Evan is The Cartoon Museum’s current Young Cartoonist in Residence. This programme provides expert support and guidance for autistic artists to create new works of art, exhibit their work, create merchandise and run workshops like this one. The second half of the workshop you will learn from Nicola Jennings how she takes a face and creates a caricature. Nicola is one of Britain’s most famous caricaturists, with her work being instantly recognisable from the pages of The Guardian. Nicola has an amazing eye for creating caricatures that whilst remaining humorous, are also able to tackle complex political events in a single image. This one-off workshop will allow guests to learn from two incredible artist at different stages of their careers. Whilst this workshop isn’t a ‘relaxed event’ we will have a ten-minute break in between Evan and Nicola’s portions, and participants are free to take things at their own pace.
  • Mighty Mega Pets: Freaky Food Fiasco Launch Party With Gary Northfield Gosh Comics, Berwick Street, Soho, 7-9pm
    Gary Northfield is back with a fantastic new comic, Mighty Mega Pets! Gary is one of the best kids comics authors around, a favourite of ours at Gosh! and his books are always flying off the shelves.

Get ready to have your heart broken, this haunting and beautifully illustrated comic set in rural America is unlike any zombie apocalypse story you’ve seen before. We’ve loved the single issues of this and are so excited for the collected volume, which we’ll be selling alongside an exclusive signed bookplate that Jacob drew for us!

  • The Future Was Then, Cartoon Museum, Noho, 4th October to the 16th of May 2o26
    The Future Was Then features over 80 pages of original comic art alongside other items that tell stories about the future of the human race from 1990 to 4000 AD. The exhibition includes original work from iconic futuristic worlds such as Tank Girl, Judge Dredd, Black Mirror, Buck Rogers and Thunderbirds, and original artwork by legendary artists such as Jamie Hewlett, Frank Bellamy and Sydney Jordan. Science fiction and dystopian comics give us possible visions of Earth’s future, imagining what may be in store for humanity. Will hope triumph, with space rangers taking to the cosmos to explore new worlds? Or will fear set in, with futuristic authoritarian regimes taking hold?
