The two very different viewing experiences I have are whilst watching the cartoons as a kid and then as an adult. Yes, it used to seem innocent to use the cartoons. At one point however, cartoons ceased being cartoons. Were we simply old enough to see it? Maybe. And once more, the artistes of these cartoons know exactly what is up. Since now you can watch them and they strike them in a different way. You may even want to know how they managed to turn it into a kids show with all the meaning and those undertones. And the next moment you find yourself in this or that of them without even trying.
Which adult do you lowkey associate with any cartoon character? Is it a habitual sleepertroop, the one who is overly worried, the one who simply just tries to survive or the happy-go-lucky who is indifferent? These are some of the cartoon characters you were more likely to associate with on this level.
1. BoJack Horseman
BoJack Horseman became so big when it first came out, especially since it was the same time as the rise of TV streaming. It’s actually a simple story about a washed-up celebrity trying to stay relevant. But when you actually think about how BoJack is, you’ll realize that it goes way deeper than that. That’s also why there are lots of quotes from this TV show that are being shared on social media.
Many of us didn’t expect to be hit by the so-called adulting. That feeling of being stuck or quietly questioning if you’re doing enough with your life. What’s extremely relatable is how BoJack shows the kind of thoughts people don’t always say out loud. It’s not the easiest show to sit through, but it’s so good.
2. Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh is one of the most popular cartoon characters of all times. Why, how not? He puts on that red crop top with his belly out, and merely carries on with his day as though nothing is wrong. When he was a boy, it just appeared that he was cute and a little silly. However, now, he is like a one who just prefers peace to all. Nobody is pressed to hurry, no one is in a hurry, no one is stressed, no one is trying to prove anything.
Life is so hectic and as adults, we are always in a hurry. But after learning how life works, in a gradual way, you will come to relish Pooh and his reasons as to why he lives the way he does.
3. Squidward Tentacles
Squidward might be mistaken to be among the most irritating cartoon characters of all times. He is the one character that everyone believed was simply vicious because of nothing. But at this time, when we get exposed to the reality of life, we can easily figure out why he is like (or became like) that.
He is conducting the same routine. He seemingly was simply driving to keep alive but not live. Squidward hadn’t been sleeping, always tired, but tired is not something you can cure with a good night of sleep.
4. Benson Dunwoody
Benson did not make much sense previously. He simply appeared to be a person who lost his temper too easily and such a person is not one that you would love to be around as a child. Now we can tell what is happening. He has a lot on his plate as he is making an effort of keeping things together. It gets exhausting. Life gets exhausting. Now then, when we were to replay the show a number of times, it is difficult not to see what he is talking about.
5. SpongeBob SquarePants
SpongeBob is the servant of the last name that you would place on this list. He is jovial and full of life and he actually enjoys doing the flipping burgers as a livelihood. But think about it. Do you know a single person who loves what he/she does? Like, love it, no one is complaining, no, I hate Mondays, no I can finish the day. They simply appear day by day because they desire to. SpongeBob has that and such is not so easy as we used to think it was when we are children.
The Cartoon Shows We Once Loved Were Always Talking to Us
Maybe these characters were never really just for kids. Or maybe we just needed to grow up a little to actually get it. Either way, it’s kind of wild how a cartoon can make you feel seen in a way that real life sometimes doesn’t. How about you? Which cartoon character do you relate to mostly?
