A longtime fan of the reality competition series herself, Billie Eilish has discovered a whole new fanbase since becoming a Survivor idol.
The 10x Grammy winner, who sang about the CBS competition reality series on her 2022 track ‘TV’, recently shared her excitement over the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol, which debuted on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans in February.
“First of all, it’s so amazing because I’m such a big Survivor fan,” Eilish told Entertainment Tonight. “And the other thing that’s been pretty surprising and also incredible, is the amount of people who have never complimented me on one thing in my life, are like, ‘I love you on Survivor, Bill. I love you on Survivor!’”
Discovered by Genevieve in the first episode, with Eilish writing a letter explaining to the contestant that she has to give the immunity idol to someone on another tribe, and if they’re eliminated while in possession of the idol, it “boomerangs” back to the previous recipient.
Jeff Probst, who has hosted the show since it premiered in 2000, explained to People that his team “sent her a couple of ideas, and she decided which one she liked; she said, ‘I like the Boomerang.’ Then, we kind of wrote out the clue, and she approved that as well.”
“It was really fun to collaborate with her. She was enthusiastic about it,” added Probst.
The 5x Emmy-winning host also offered Eilish a spot competing on a future season. “Well, I saw a little interview with Billie where she said, ‘I think I might want to play,’ and I’m just saying, the invitation is there. It seems unlikely. It’s a long commitment, but Billie’s always welcome,” he said.
Marking the show’s milestone 50th season, new episodes of Survivor 50 air Wednesdays at 8pm ET/PT on CBS, with the finale scheduled for May 20.
