Sarah Michelle Gellar is saying goodbye to her beloved watcher, Giles.
As we previously reported, Anthony Head died at the age of 72. His daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, announced on Friday that he “passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia.” How sad. Following the devastating news, Sarah took to Instagram to mourn her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star. She wrote in the caption:
“‘Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok’ Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok. But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world.”

In addition, the actress shared several throwback pictures of herself, Anthony, the Buffy cast, her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., and their daughter Charlotte. She also included a scene between their characters Buffy Summers and Rupert Giles where she asks:
“Does it ever get easy, life?”
To which he replies:
“What do you want me to say?”
And when Buffy tells him to “lie,” Giles goes:
“Yes. It’s terribly simple. The good guys are stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats and we always defeat them and save the day. Nobody ever dies and everybody lives happily ever after.”
We’re so sorry for Sarah’s loss. We can’t imagine how it must feel to lose so many dear friends so closely. Check out the tribute (below):
