Prime Video‘s latest YA adaptation, Every Year After, based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After, concluded with several major developments. Here’s a breakdown of what happened in the season finale.

Do Percy and Sam end up together in Every Year After’s ending?
The primary question throughout the 10-episode season was whether Sam and Percy would end up together. The pair spend the evening together following Sue’s memorial in the finale. However, the series does not definitively confirm whether they reconcile romantically.
Instead, their relationship concludes on an open-ended note, leaving room for further exploration in a potential future season.
In the finale, Percy declares, “We have a history of messy goodbyes, and I think we’re owed a proper one.” Sam sleeps with his former flame, but it is clear that he remains deeply hurt by Percy’s betrayal. “I want so much to forgive you,” he tells her, before explaining that he cannot forgive her.
Some time later, Percy receives a letter from Sam in the mail. The letter includes the keys to Sue’s tavern.
The story then jumps ahead to the following summer in Barry’s Bay, where Percy and Delilah Mason are preparing to reopen the tavern under Percy’s ownership. Sam does not attend the reopening event. However, he arrives afterward while Percy is washing dishes.
Although the series ends at that point, the final scene suggests the possibility of reconciliation between Sam and Percy.
Elsewhere in the finale, Chantal and Jordie officially become a couple. Meanwhile, Charlie experiences a sudden pain in his chest and collapses while looking at a photograph of himself, Sam, and Percy on a boat.
The finale also leaves several storylines unresolved, setting up potential developments for the future.
The first season of Every Year After is now streaming on Prime Video.
