Jenelle Evans is sharing a deeply personal update on her son Jace, and it’s clear this has been an incredibly emotional journey for their family.
On Monday, the Teen Mom alum took to Instagram to give fans a rare glimpse into how her 16-year-old son is doing after months of largely staying silent about his increasingly unsettling situation. While she’s kept much of his recovery private, Jenelle made it clear that she’s been fighting for her son every step of the way behind the scenes.

Alongside new photos of Jace, Jenelle opened her heart in an emotional message by writing:
“And here’s a real update about Jace. From what I choose to share, he’s working on himself and focusing on his emotions. He’s obviously had ups and downs but I’m hoping for the best in his future. Here’s some awesome pictures of his progress. I’ve had countless night of crying over the past 6 months because i want him to be happy and will do whatever it takes to help him mentally and physically. As his mother I WILL NOT give up. #TeamJace.”
That’s a powerful statement from a mom who has endured months of concern and uncertainty while trying to help her son through an incredibly difficult chapter.
Of course, the IG post lands after Jace entered a mental health facility earlier this year following an alleged gun-wielding incident with his grandmother, Barbara Evans. At the time, officers responded to a disturbance after Barbara called 911 over serious allegations involving a gun and threats of self-harm. The situation also prompted Barbara to file emergency custody-related motions in March as the family navigated the crisis.

Despite all of that, Jenelle has consistently maintained that her focus has been on getting Jace the help he needs rather than engaging with speculation online. During an appearance on the La Femme Talk podcast back in April, she revealed that she’d been quietly working behind the scenes to secure mental health treatment for her son, explaining that he was in what she described as a safe place with a holistic approach and was focusing on his own healing.
Then in May, Jenelle shared photos from what appeared to be a parents weekend visit to Jace’s mental health facility, posting pictures of the pair kayaking together and spending time with horses. Calling Jace her “best friend,” she said they were both working on themselves while highlighting the importance of mental health and recovery.
Now, her latest update offers another hopeful sign that progress is being made, even if the road hasn’t been easy. Here’s hoping Jace continues making progress as he focuses on his mental health. Wishing him nothing but strength and healing in the months ahead!
