Tom Morello has announced his first solo album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, out Sept. 25 via Mom + Pop Music.
The record tackles themes of fascism, immigrant rights, and worldwide political unrest, pulls from a wide range of genres, and features numerous collaborators, including Serj Tankian, Kneecap, and Beartooth. Morello’s 15-year-old son Roman, who has been playing guitar on tour alongside his father for the last three years, has co-writing credits on five tracks.

“Date Night,” the next single from Everyone Gets Everything They Want, recounts the real-life story of three young Dutch women who fought as spies, saboteurs, and assassins during World War II.
“I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists,” he says. “I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists. And I make anti-Nazi songs for anti-Nazis. ‘Date Night’ is really a ‘which side are you on?’ song. If any of that offends you, do the math. Oh, and Roman Morello wrote the killer riff in this tune.”
Morello just announced the Power To The People Festival, a one-day celebration of peace, justice, solidarity, music, and activism, happening Oct. 3 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. The event, which is curated by Morello, boasts a stacked lineup, including Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Public Enemy, the Linda Lindas, and more.
