“Will you teach me how to drive?” The full official trailer has arrived online for the movie Race to Monte Carlo, a true story-inspired race car sports movie also going under the original title Battle of Engines. Hitting theaters over in Russia starting in October though still no other releases set yet. Following up on F1 and Ferrari and Ford v Ferrari and all the other recent race car films. Driver Andrey Nagel believed in his car’s future in the early Russian auto industry. After co-creating the Russo-Balt car, he aimed to prove its worth by competing in the 3000 km St. Petersburg to Monaco race for Monte Carlo Rally’s top prize. This is their story. In 1908, automotive enthusiast Andrey Nagel & engineer Dmitry Bondarev gather a team of like-minded individuals to develop a top notch race car. When the viability of their endeavor looks uncertain, Andrey makes the risky decision to enter their car in the Monaco Rally – a move that will make or break the budding manufacturer’s future. Starring Oscar nominee Yura Borisov (from Anora) as Dmitry and Ivan Yankovskiy as Andrey, along with Paulina Andreeva, Igor Grabuzov, Aleksei Guskov, & Yehezkel Lazarov. This is the story of the visionaries behind Russia’s first mass-produced automobile. In 1908, automotive enthusiast Andrey Nagel (Ivan Yankovskiy) and engineer Dmitry Bondarev (Yura Borisov) gather a team of like-minded individuals & begin developing a car. When the viability of their endeavor looks uncertain, Andrey Nagel makes the risky decision to enter their car in the Monaco Rally – a move that could make or break the budding automobile manufacturer’s future. Race to Monte Carlo, also called Battle of Engines or Битва моторов in Russian, is directed by Russian actor / filmmaker Ilya Malanin, directing his second movie after making Extraordinary previously. The screenplay is written by Andrey Kurganov. Produced by Petr Anurov, Grigoriy Stoyalov, Vadim Vereshchagin. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Battle of Engines debuts in Russian cinemas starting October 8th, 2026 this year. The international release of Race to Monte Carlo is still TBD – stay tuned for updates. Who wants to watch this?
