Marvel introduces a Deadpool villain who might completely negate Wade Wilson’s healing factor and destroy him for good. Deadpool’s healing factor is simultaneously the greatest advantage and the greatest burden of his existence, as it makes Wade Wilson virtually immune from every injury at the cost of a normal life. Derived from Wolverine’s regenerative abilities and amplified through the Weapon X program, Wade’s healing factor allows Deadpool to recover from near-total bodily destruction and enables his reckless, improvisational fighting style.
Despite his incredible regeneration abilities, Deadpool has met opponents and battles capable of inflicting lasting damage. During Daniel Way’s run, Wade Wilson’s healing factor becomes severely compromised after Skrull experimentation, which forces him to find different ways to approach threats he would normally plough through. Carbonadium weapons, which inhibit regenerative abilities, have also proven highly effective against Deadpool’s healing factor. Powerful telepaths including Professor X and Emma Frost can attack his mind, and cosmic beings like Thanos and Death possess enough power to destroy him outright under the right circumstances.

Black Hole May Have The One Superpower That Can Destroy Deadpool’s Body
Designed by George Shaw, Marvel’s new villain Black Hole sports a shirt with what seems to be the illustration of a cosmic black hole, plus black markings around his eyes and a coat with a similar illustration on the lower border. While little else is known about the character, these visual traits suggest that his moniker is quite literal, possibly possessing the power to summon or create celestial bodies so dense they can absorb and destroy anything, including Deadpool. Black Hole is set to make his debut in the upcoming four-part crossover between Geoff Shaw’s Wade Wilson: Deadpool and José Luis Soares’ Punisher, arriving this September.
Wade Wilson’s healing factor is currently in overdrive, creating disfigured “Badpools” from every body part he leaves lying around after an injury. Still, Deadpool’s powerful healing factor may be no match for an enemy who can create black holes. In Deadpool: The End, a version of Ellie Camacho from the future summons a black hole so she and her father can finally rest, knowing that a black hole’s infinite density and inescapable gravity will pull their atoms apart and prevent them from regenerating. If Black Hole can achieve a similar feat, it might be the definitive end for Wade Wilson.

Deadpool Could Finally Know What High Stakes Means
The mysterious Black Hole’s possible connection to gravitational phenomena may prove as dangerous as his name suggests. While nothing has been revealed about Black Hole’s abilities yet, the possibility of manipulating singularities or generating black holes immediately introduces stakes Deadpool isn’t familiar with. Wade Wilson’s healing factor usually removes the suspense from his battles, as it’s obvious that he will always regenerate from any injury. If Deadpool knows he can’t possibly survive a singularity, he may finally confront the unfamiliar concept of mortality.
Black Hole could also become the personal nemesis that Deadpool has never fully had. Although Wade has fought memorable opponents like T-Ray, Ajax, Taskmaster, Thanos, and Wolverine, none of his recurring enemies has filled the role that Green Goblin does for Spider-Man, Sabretooth for Wolverine, and Doctor Doom for the Fantastic Four. Deadpool’s rogues’ gallery has traditionally reflected the unpredictable, comedic nature of his series more than a single rivalry. A powerful new villain with abilities unlike anything Deadpool has previously encountered could change this dynamic if Marvel develops Black Hole into Wade’s personal grim reaper.
