Saturday Night Live has largely favored pop, hip-hop and Latin music with its recent musical bookings, which is why the presence of Turnstile on the initial season 52 slate is all the more eye-opening. The Baltimore hardcore outfit will serve as the musical guest on Oct. 3 alongside host Dakota Johnson, and will presumably perform material from its acclaimed 2025 album, NEVER ENOUGH.
That project was grist for a just-released collection of alternate and remixed versions, with contributions from Elton John, Four Tet, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Floating Points and boygenius’ Julien Baker, among others.
The other three SNL musical guests are more on brand for the long-running NBC sketch comedy vehicle. Global girl group KATSEYE will perform during the Sept. 26 season opener hosted by New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, while ROSALÍA performs Oct. 10 on an episode helmed by comedian Shane Gillis.
The last pairing announced for now is Gracie Abrams on the Oct. 31 Halloween episode with host Inde Navarrette (Obsession). Although she released a new album, Daughter from Hell, in July, Abrams has since been busy filming her acting debut as the lead character in writer/director Halina Reijn’s Please, which will be released by A24.
In related news, ROSALÍA is in talks to act in Alma Har’el’s drama Wet, per Deadline. It would be the biggest film role to date for the artist, who briefly appeared in Pedro Almodóvar’s 2019 movie Pain and Glory and had a more substantial part in season three of HBO’s Euphoria.
