The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives had a condensed fifth season amid Taylor Frankie Paul‘s offscreen legal issues with Dakota Mortensen — but is she returning to the show for season 6?
Season 5 premiered on Hulu Thursday, September 10, and followed the weeks leading up to production being paused. Taylor, 32, found herself struggling after she returned from The Bachelorette engaged yet was still conflicted about her feelings for both Dakota, 33, and Ben Lambert.
By the time the five-episode season came to an end, Taylor and Ben broke up while her future with Dakota got messier. She accused him of calling CPS on her and, as viewers know, both of them would soon stop filming due to an alleged incident.
“I just woke up. I have not seen the show. I don’t even remember much of what happened. I went on socials for a little bit, and that was terrifying,” Taylor said in an Instagram video on Thursday. “I am drinking from a bath sink … not my proudest moment.”
Taylor urged viewers to remember how much time had passed.
“Remember this is not real time — not that any of you care. There have been seven or eight moments of me alone healing — or trying to — and self-reflection,” she continued. “But yeah, pretty messy, but we are a work in progress.”
Taylor offered more insight in the caption, which read, “Life update: not proud but it’s in the past and we’re trying to move forward with so much more of my story that’s unfolding.”
News broke in March that production on season 5 had been paused as Taylor and Dakota filed temporary restraining orders against each other, with Dakota earning temporary custody of their son, Ever. Taylor was granted supervised visits. Authorities have since confirmed that Taylor would not be charged for the February incident with Dakota.

Since then, Taylor and Dakota have remained in a messy legal battle over custody.
As filming picked back up to conclude season 5, a source told Us in April that the producers and cast “have welcomed Taylor to return to this year’s filming.”
“It is still unclear whether she will come back this year, but she is expected to be back in the future,” the insider noted.
The source said the show’s team respected that Taylor is “prioritizing her family and mental health as she recovers from this relationship” with Dakota.
“She does want to return at some point,” the insider added about how Taylor was “focused on her mental health” following recent events.
A second source told Us there were “conversations” with the network about Taylor returning “next season” instead.
“They are still working out what that looks like for her, but Taylor has expressed she will be back,” the insider shared before confirming Dakota “will not be involved” in the show moving forward. “The network wants to keep them separate and not perpetuate a toxic relationship.”
While the rest of the cast has been seen filming for season 6, no official news has been released about the role Taylor will play in the show’s future.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming now on Hulu.
