On this episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon hosts a luau to celebrate Gina‘s engagement, despite trying to be more financially responsible. Carmella learns that Vicki still has something to say about her parenting and knocks the OG of the OC down a few pegs, trying to get her point across…
Mothering is a bit different for each of the ladies. Heather has landed on jazzing up two apartments so her kids will gather, and Jenn is amazed at her son’s work achievements, considering she can’t even do math. Emily‘s relationship with her daughter, Annabelle, is getting better every day, due to all the one-on-one time they have spent together, and Carmella’s kids… well, they are ready to protect their mom from Vicki’s mean words. Vicki’s actions toward Carmella have been inappropriate — calling someone a bad parent and a liar are truly fighting words.
In the meantime, Shannon is busy prepping for her upcoming luau. Despite Gina asking Shannon not to throw her an engagement party (because $$), Shannon is hell-bent on giving Gina the party she deserves. It will be a couple’s event, which is odd considering Shannon is bringing a friend as her plus-one.
Speaking of Gina’s engagement, she is wondering if she should be fiscally responsible or throw the big wedding. Decisions, decisions.
Shannon admits that the trip to Vicki’s house was a mess and that Vicki is doing a nice job of being rude lately. Carmella is beyond angry with Vicki, and it’s unlikely that things will get better, especially because Vicki keeps saying that Carmella is a bad parent and that her boyfriend is raising her kids. Shannon claims that Vicki is fragile, but Gina thinks it is time Vicki is held accountable for her actions. Gina wants Carmella to know all the things.
Tamra is thrilled to be hosting four generations under her roof. Her son, Ryan, is attending, even though their relationship has always been a bit tumultuous. It’s his daughter’s birthday, and Tamra is dead set on gifting her granddaughter an old designer bag in celebration. Tamra reflects on how nice it is to be together and hopes that Ryan’s hate rhetoric and grandma-shaming can go away. Now if only she could get Sidney back in her life, things would be perfect.
Vicki has decided that Shannon needs some new bras. Shannon naturally brings her daughter along for the trip. Vicki shares that Shannon is now becoming financially responsible and it is working, yet Shannon purchases two bags full of new bras. So much for saving.
Emily has zero expectations when it comes to Vicki. She has not seen her since she Ubered out of her house the other day, so Shannon’s luau should be… interesting. Vicki is already planning to leave the luau early, which is pretty typical.
Shannon has her guests limbo in, just because why not make everyone uncomfortable prior to entering a party? Gina is amazed at what Shannon pulled off for this party and admits that it looks expensive… “probably enough to pay off her back taxes.” Ooph, the shade, Gina.
Emily promises that she is not apologizing to Vicki and calls Vicki delusional. Vicki pretends like everything is great, but when Carmella enters, the mood changes. As Carmella chats with Gina, Jenn, and Shannon, she learns a bombshell. Gina shares that Vicki has been saying Danny is raising her kids. A livid Carmella states, “I’m about to dropkick an OG.”
Emily takes a moment to tell Heather that she wants her as a friend, but Heather is unsure of this. Emily admits that there have been isolated instances that annoy her when it comes to Heather, and she blows smoke up Heather’s a*s about being an inspirational mother. Heather is glad to know that Emily wants to be her friend, and they are happy to move on.
Vicki’s boyfriend is noticeably absent from the party, and everyone realizes that Shannon has brought along her good friend’s ex-boyfriend as her plus one. Of course, Tamra brings this up in front of the group and questions out loud if they are all swingers. Shannon admits that she has only kissed this “friend-date” a few times.
Carmella fills her boyfriend in on the newest and feels like Vicki is just trying to stir sh*t up. Carmella decides that she is going to confront Vicki right there and then at the dinner. Vicki tries to backtrack as the men leave the table so the women can fight. Shannon throws Vicki right under the bus, but Vicki claims that Shannon is putting words in her mouth.
Vicki pulls the “I never meant to hurt you” card again, but Carmella wants Vicki to keep her name out of her mouth. Despite the apology last time, Vicki continues to try and discredit Carmella. Jenn points out that Vicki said she does not like new people, but Carmella points out that Vicki is also new this year.
Well, the OG of the OC (21 years’ worth) did not like that one bit, but a feisty Carmella states, “Everything has an expiration.” Vicki can’t seem to take what she dishes.
Emily points out that they wanted to spend time with Vicki and have deep conversations on their trip. With Mike there, the vibes were off. Vicki tries to spin it and says that Jenn and Emily were the ones to make everything uncomfortable. Tamra claims that Vicki is remorseful and doesn’t mean what she says. Carmella wants the ladies to help boost Vicki up rather than tear her down, since it is evident that Vicki is keeping a protective wall up around her.
Jenn reminds Vicki she has no ill intent and she is trying to make a safe space for Vicki. Vicki opens up and says that she has abandonment issues and perhaps that comes out in different ways.
After all the problems seemingly get settled, Emily invites all the ladies to a Persian party at her in-laws’. Shannon makes an announcement that they will be playing a game that just looks like foreplay for all of the couples. Carmella is still not over Vicki’s lack of accountability, and Gina points out that Vicki is a “master of this Jedi mind trick.” Vicki is NOT the victim, yet everyone is consoling her…
