What do we see in the new Unleashed Spirits movie clip?
The clip shows a moment from 2018 at Depp’s recording studio in Hollywood. In it, Depp can be seen playing the piano late at night. Footage of Tommy Henriksen narrating over the scene follows, as he explains Depp’s creative process. Depp talks to the camera about writing This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr. The next few shots show Depp and Henriksen working on the song early in the morning.
“It’s about if the inspiration hits, if the words pop into your head, how much time do you have before they fall out?” Depp asks, revealing that he carries a notebook with him at all times as a solution.
The documentary is directed by Daniel E. Catullo III, with editing by Leslie Atkins. Paul Geary serves as the executive producer. Catullo has worked on concert films such as Foo Fighters: Live at the Acropolis, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, Alicia Keys: The Girl From Hell’s Kitchen, and more.
Depp is set to star in Ebenezer, his first live-action English-language feature film role since 2020’s Minamata.
Unleashed Spirits will have its West Coast premiere on October 22, 2026, as the closing-night documentary feature at the 27th Newport Beach Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at the Boston Film Festival on September 18, 2026.
