AFI Fest celebrates its 40th edition this month, running October 21 through 25 at the TCL Chinese Theatres on Hollywood Boulevard. It’s a five-day run with a hometown feel: easy to reach by Metro and anchored in the middle of Hollywood.

Passes & Tickets
Passes went on sale August 18 in three tiers: the Star Pass, the Patron Pass, and the Marquee Pass, which is new this year. The Patron Pass adds priority screening selection and access to red-carpet premieres on top of Star Pass benefits. An Industry Pass is $150 and includes panel access, an official mixer and ticket reservation privileges. Individual tickets and the full program were expected to be announced in late September, so check FEST.AFI.com for the current schedule.
Getting There
Validated parking is $3 for up to four hours at the Ovation Hollywood structure, and the Hollywood/Highland Metro station is steps away.
What to Expect
The festival is an Oscar-qualifying event for Live Action, Animated and Documentary Short Films, and also qualifies British short film categories for BAFTA and the British Independent Film Awards. The 2025 edition screened more than 160 films from 56 countries.
The features with premieres include Wildwood (Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m.); Ray Gunn (Oct. 25, 1 p.m.), voice cast includes Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Waits; and Being Heumann (Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m.)

Other highlights that AFI is calling attention to and include alumni behind the camera include:

- The Man I Love (Oct. 23, 9:30 p.m.), Ira Sachs’s film starring Rami Malek, has a live Q&A.
