Coachella is nearly a month behind us now, however Goldenvoice continues to drop huge, uniquely curated lineups that make us wish to proceed touring to reveals all 12 months lengthy. The newest is a brand new enterprise known as Portola, set at Pier 80 in San Francisco, and the artist choice is solely dazzling.
Headlining the two-day pageant will likely be Flume and The Chemical Brothers, with appearances from Kaytranada, Jamie xx, Fred Once more.., James Blake, M.I.A., Lane 8, 4 Tet + Floating Factors, Caroline Polachek, Bicep (Stay), Ben Böhmer, Fatboy Slim, DJ Shadow, and extra over the September 24-25 weekend.
Introduced by Goldenvoice and the brainchild of Goldenvoice VP Expertise Purchaser Danny Bell, Portola goals to include all completely different corners of the dance/indie/hip-hop/progressive pop realm. Bell notes, “That is the pageant I’ve wished to provide for the previous decade. San Francisco is the right metropolis for it and now could be the right time! Let’s dance and have a good time this September!”
The pageant’s namesake is an ode to the Portola Competition of 1909, which was a celebration of the re-opening of San Francisco, three years after the earthquake of 1906 decimated the town. It was set as much as publicize to the world that San Francisco was again open and able to host vacationers. This new pageant feels very in step with that ethos, inviting music followers of many genres to come back and discover.
