EXCLUSIVE: We hear that Sarah Rothschild, the author of the Netflix film Sleepover, will likely be writing the most recent draft of Disney/Think about/Free Affiliation’s Splash remake.
Deadline first informed you concerning the remake again in 2016 with the 22 Leap Road and Inherent Vice actress hooked up.
The unique Splash in 1984 was an enormous hit for Disney at a close to $70M stateside, the primary of its adult-demo options launched on the time below its Touchstone label, and the primary main hit for director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer which led to the creation of their Think about in November 1985. The unique starred Tom Hanks and Darryl Hanna as a person and a mermaid, respectively, who fall in love after being reunited years after she saved his life as a boy. Marja-Lewis Ryan wrote an earlier draft of the Splash remake.
Rothschild, an award-winning screenwriter, not too long ago tailored The Love Speculation for MRC and Elizabeth Cantillon and wrote 24/7 – a modern-day tackle Working Woman – which was bought to Common with Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble and Paul Feig producing. Each Longoria and Kerry Washington are hooked up to star in that venture.
Rothschild’s authentic function, The Sleepover, was launched by Netflix in 2020 and starred Ken Marino, Malin Ackerman and Joe Manganiello. The movie was directed by Trish Sie (Pitch Good 3).
On the tv facet, Rothschild’s pilot Earlier than I Neglect has UnbeliEVAble producing, Longoria starring, and Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer season) hooked up to direct.
