Paramount+ Is Reportedly Looking to Produce a STAR TREK Movie Every Two Years — GeekTyrant

As Paramount Pictures is still trying to figure out what to do with their Star Trek movies, Paramount+ has enjoyed success with the multiple series that they’ve been producing. Fans of the franchise have been very happy with them, and yesterday they announced that they are developing a movie titled Star Trek: Section 31.

Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role in the movie as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, and it will follow the character as she joins “a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets. But she also faces the sins of her past.”

It turns out that Star Trek: Section 31 may be the first of many Star Trek movies coming to Paramount+. According to a report from THR, the studio is looking to release Star Trek movies every two years! The report says:

Sources say Section 31 is being envisioned as Mission: Impossible meets Guardians of the Galaxy, which with the big scope of both films would make doing a weekly series a larger challenge. The plan, sources note, is for Kurtzman and company to do a Star Trek made-for-streaming movie every two years for Paramount+.

I love that Paramount+ actually has their shit together when it comes to Star Trek, and it looks like they’re going to start busting out Star Trek movies before Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams finally get around to it. It also wouldn’t surprise me if the Paramount+ Star Trek movies ended up being better the ones that Paramount Pictures starts making.

It’ll be interesting to see what these new Star Trek movies end up being.
