Full Trailer for Ireland’s ‘The Troubles: A Dublin Story’ with Ray Malone

“You are both here of your own free will…” Good Deed Entertainment has revealed a trailer for an indie drama tilted The Troubles: A Dublin Story, yet another film from Ireland looking back at their history during the violent times known as “The Troubles.” This is set for a US release online directly in March (just in time for St. Patrick’s Day), after initially premiering back in 2022 with a stop at the Newport Beach Film Fest that fall. Two Dublin brothers must navigate loyalty, honor and the dangerous world of republicanism as they fuel the Provisional IRA’s war machine… by any means necessary. The indie film stars Ray Malone, Adam Redmond, William Delaney, Sophia Adli, and Sarah Hayden. Reviews for the film state that, “in the end, it feels like another typical crime story, rather than having the political message it should have.” Being dumped online after two years after the premiere is not a good sign this is going to be worth a watch.

The Troubles, a Dublin Story is a hidden history story, based on true accounts of those involved, it explores rarely discussed events during The Troubles from the perspective of two working class brothers growing up in North Dublin in the 1970s and 80s who, far removed from the horrors of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, but shocked by the atrocities they witness on television, are naively drawn into the complex world of republicanism, gangsterism, the inevitable hypocrisy of the cause, finding themselves embroiled within the personal and moral consequences that entailed. The Troubles: A Dublin Story is directed by Irish indie filmmaker Luke Hanlon, making his feature directorial debut after one other short previously. It’s also produced by Luke Hanlon; and co-produced by Wayne Byrne and Ani Davtyan. This initially premiered at the 2022 IndieCork Festival a few years ago. Good Deed Ent. will release Hanlon’s The Troubles: A Dublin Story direct-to-VOD in the US starting on March 5th, 2024 coming soon. Anyone interested in watching?
