Mad Max director George Miller has revealed Chris Hemsworth‘s dad’s 45-year-old connection to the original film.
In an interview with people, Miller revealed the “full circle” moment, sharing that Chris‘s father Craig “Hung out with the biker gang that was in the first Mad Max… There’s a photograph!”
“He was a social worker going to university, otherwise he would’ve been part of that biker gang in Melbourne,” Miller said.

The popular film franchise was shot in Australia, with the original 1979 film starring Mel Gibson as a revenge-seeking cop amid a dystopian Australia after its societal collapse.
The films received worldwide acclaim and went on to spawn three sequels and now a spin-off, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which now stars Chris Hemsworth, 45 years after his father’s (near) involvement in the original.
The Thor actor, who plays the villain Dementus, a warlord in the film, confirmed the story.

In an interview with Cinemablend, Chris shared, “My dad used to race motorbikes and knew all the crew that performed a lot of those stunts and did the riding in the film”.
Miller also recounted the story at Chris Hemsworth’s Walk of Fame ceremony, where the Aussie actor received the 2,781st star on the street on May 23.
He attended the ceremony with his family and many of his Hollywood friends, including Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr., who took the opportunity to roast him.
