Marvel can’t seem to get enough of their classic Spider-Man villains! A rumor teases that Tom Holland will fight his own versions of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus in his new trilogy.
With the next Spider-Man film set to be a new start for Tom Holland’s web-slinger, fans have been excited to see what new villains the hero will take on in the MCU. However, it seems more of the same may be coming down the pipeline. According to Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel wants Holland to fight his own variants of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus in the final installment of this saga.
This rumor may disappoint some fans who were hoping for some lesser-known villains to take the spotlight, especially after the last Spider-Man movie was Tom Holland fighting all of his biggest baddies. However, given Marvel was clearly setting up the Green Goblin’s MCU debut in concept art for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, it’s not a shock Doctor Octopus is following close behind.
Spider-Man’s Future Villains In The MCU
Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin aren’t the only classic villains Marvel has plans for in their upcoming Spider-Man trilogy. All signs point to Tom Holland going through his own version of the symbiote saga in the future of the MCU, potentially even kicking off in an Avengers movie. This would leave even less space for new villains to squeeze into the fold.
Vincent D’Onofrio has also long been promising that his version of Kingpin will come to blows with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the future of the MCU. It seems Marvel already has their plate full when it comes to the upcoming trilogy. Now they just need to find a director to bring it all together!
