Ever watched The Purge and thought to yourself, I’d like to spend two days in that universe to enjoy all its horrors firsthand? Well, your dreams are about to come true.
This Halloween season, Peacock and Blumhouse have partnered up to offer fans of The Purge, Insidious, Freaky, and Happy Death Day a chance to experience these terror stories in a 2-day stay at the iconic Stanley Hotel from The Shining in Estes Park, Colorado. This immersive experience will run from October 18th to October 20th. It’s being called an Overnightmare, and I hope we get more of them all over the country.
Peacock and Blumhouse will be taking over The Lodge at the hotel to start scaring guests from the moment they check in. They’ll be welcomed by a conci-scare-ge (according to the press release) and be immediately ushered in to themed rooms fans will immediately recognize. Characters from the aforementioned movies will be roaming around, and there’s also a spooky salon based on the new James Wan-produced tv series Teacup. A Blumhouse bar follows, where guests can play the company’s upcoming game Fear the Spotlight (which got a new trailer on Sony’s latest State of Play).
Come night time, guests will be pulled out for unique horror activations that range in levels of intensity for those who prefer either full-on nightmare scenarios or more relaxed scares. Characters, creatures, and killers from the Blumhouse movies will be haunting these experiences, so expect to see a few ghosts knocking on red doors and more than a few psychos trying to cause mayhem on the senses.
Those interested in getting two nights of abject terror can book their stays on The Stanley Hotel’s website. According to the press release, the weekend package includes a two-night stay in a double occupancy room in The Lodge, an interactive Scare Experience, a complimentary welcome dinner, $100 credit toward breakfast or lunch at Brunch & Co., nightly screenings, and two drink vouchers for the Blumhouse Bar per guest.
A convergence of horror worlds the likes of this one can be a rare thing. Those lucky enough to get in will get a chance to stand in horror holy ground at the The Stanely and enjoy the new batch horror classics that define the current state of the genre. Just make sure not to anger any spirits in case one of them is real.
