A few months ago, WWE’s The New Day Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were joined by Odyssey Jones, who made his highly anticipated debut. Jones had been drafted to WWE’s main roster in 2023. He made his first appearance on RAW in August.
On the August 5th, 2024 edition of WWE RAW, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods faced The Final Testament’s Akam and Rezar. The New Day emerged victorious with help from Odyssey Jones who attacked The Final Testament members.
Odyssey Jones’ debut garnered impressive numbers across all of social media. Reports also stated backstage officials were happy with Jones’ debut. With the latter beginning his career on a high note, fans expected big plans for him.
However, things took a serious turn when WWE suddenly removed Jones from television and released him following domestic abuse allegations. The New Day storyline, which had featured Jones, continued without his involvement. Recently, Kofi Kingston shared his thoughts on Jones being removed from the storyline suddenly.
Kofi Kingston talks about adjusting after Odyssey Jones’ WWE firing
Kofi Kingston recently discussed Odyssey Jones’ removal from WWE TV during an interview with the New York Post. Kingston reflected on the unpredictability of WWE, noting how things can change at a moment’s notice.
He stated, “One of the main lessons that I’ve learned is that you never know what tomorrow is going to bring with WWE. You always have to be ready to adjust at the drop of a hat.” Kingston added, “And it’s your ability to adjust and roll with the punches that pulls you up. Nothing ever goes as planned.”
When asked to comment on Odyssey Jones, Kingston said, “So all that to say, you know, once Odyssey was out of the mix, we just had to figure out a way to pivot and keep the story going and keep on moving forward, because, as they say, the show must go on. And you figure out the best ways to adjust.”
Following Jones’ removal from WWE TV, Woods and Kingston’s storyline continued. With their tensions intensifying between them, weeks have progressed.
