We’re getting a new Looney Tunes movie, and it will be getting released in theaters! The movie is titled The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, which was first announced in 2021 as part of Warner Bros. Animation’s slate of original animated movies for HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
The film was ultimately scrapped by Max and was later picked up by GFM Animation in 2022, and they will be handling the worldwide distribution for the first-ever fully-animated Looney Tunes feature-length movie made for theaters.
Deadline is now reporting that Ketchup Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to the Looney Tunes movie, and they will release it in theaters nationwide later this year. We also have a trailer for you to watch for the film.
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie stars Porky Pig and Daffy Duck as unlikely heroes and Earth’s only hope when facing the threat of alien invasion.
“The movie unfolds a rich Porky & Daffy story that fans have never seen before: In this buddy-comedy of epic proportions, our heroes race to save the world, delivering all the laugh-out-loud gags and vibrant visuals that have made the Looney Tunes so iconic, but on a scope and scale yet to be experienced.”
Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment said in a statement: “The Day the Earth Blew Up is a historical moment for the Looney Tunes franchise, and we are proud to be partnering with Warner Bros. Animation to bring this film to audiences theatrically.
“We cannot wait for audiences of all ages to experience one of the smartest animated films in recent years,” said Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment.”

“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the team as they prepare for audiences to embrace Porky Pig and Daffy Duck on the big screen.”
Pete Browngardt, the creator of Cartoon Network’s Uncle Grandpa and a writer-director on Looney Tunes Cartoons, directed the film that premiered at the Annecy Animation Festival in June.
Browngardt also co-wrote the film with Alex Kirwan (Looney Tunes Cartoons) and Kevin Costello (the Tom & Jerry movie).
