Representative Al Green called out Donald Trump for that racist post his account shared of Barack and Michelle Obama during his State of the Union address, and what happened in response? He got BOOTED OUT! WTF!
While the president entered the House chamber and during the beginning of the speech, the Texas Democrat held up a sign that read, “Black People Aren’t Apes.” It is a reference to the disgusting video posted to Trump’s Truth Social (one he won’t apologize for) earlier this month of Michelle and Barack’s faces superimposed onto animated apes dancing to the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Green took a stand against Trump’s vile action, but instead of being applauded by all his peers, some tried to stop him. Both Republican House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin tried to rip the sign out of the politician’s hands. Green was ultimately escorted out of the chamber minutes into Trump’s speech — all while the republicans reportedly yelled “USA USA.” Ugh. So much for free speech!

After being kicked out, Green told reporters he wanted to “confront” Trump about his racist behavior:
“Tonight, I wanted him to have a person confront him and let him know that Black people aren’t apes, that Black people are not going to tolerate this kind of behavior. I refuse to tolerate this level of hate that the president is, in fact, putting into policy. We must take a stand against this level of invidious discrimination. I wanted him to know, and I wanted him to see it and hear it up close. But judging from the expression on his face, he got the message. He saw it. He got the message.”
Many are rallying around and applauding Al for calling out Trump now. They wrote in the comments of the video:
“Thank you for reminding him”
“Go Al…keep fighting!!!!”
“I stand with you sir!”
“Thank you for standing up!!!”
“You are right on and brave sir. Well done.”
“Keep making a difference Al Green. Thank You!”
“So proud of congressman Al Green!”
“So brave. So right when everything is so wrong right now. I applaud you for your stance. Chin up. Continue to stand up!”
