When AP caught up with Niis (pronounced “nice”) last month, they were getting ready to announce their new Play Niis EP — written during a period of heartbreak that challenged them to add more softness to their scorching punk.
We turned that conversation into a limited-edition zine, filled with photos from the AP shoot. Grab a copy when they play inside Nudie Jeans’ Repair Shop at 188 Bowery in NYC tomorrow, presented by Nudie Jeans and Alternative Press. Support is rounded out by a trio of unsigned bands — Honeycrush, Fallow Days, and Wall Carpets. Entry is free with RSVP, first come, first served.

“A Niis show is typically an incredible community,” vocalist Mimi Doe told AP, if you want to know what to expect. “Everybody’s looking out for each other. When someone falls in the pit, you pick them up. Community is the most important thing about any music scene. I like that in our crowd, everybody’s having a good time, [and] people are screaming. It’s cathartic. It’s ragey. Everybody’s enjoying the space together, and then onstage, we’re just going crazy.”
The 12×12 zine includes photos by Josh Beech and art direction by Jacob Alan. Order yours on Friday — quantities are limited.
