The film is cute but gritty, has a satisfyingly swift pace, terrifically charming/fun sequences, the quality of the animation and art design are much more impressive than you might expect, it's visually striking with an exquisite color palette and James Horner's western themed score is excellent. Another aspect that I love about the film is how dark Cat R. Waul's (the villain) motivations are for befriending mice, his intent is to exploit their labor for building his town then kill and eat them once they've served their purpose (he even has them unknowingly construct the giant mousetrap that will bring their demise). If you're a fan of animation and have never seen Fievel Goes West then it's absolutely worth a watch. submitted by /u/gruesomesonofabitch |
