“I think she’s much cuter than me,” the 56-year-old teased of the statue to BBC News, before explaining why she believes her character has stood the test of time. “[It’s her] vulnerability, her humanness. We recognize ourselves in her, we recognize ourselves in her struggles.”
The Flip Off star’s latest support is fitting, as he has long been a fan of Renée’s popular role—including her recent return to the franchise after a six-year hiatus. Indeed, he was joined by his two older kids Amelie, 21, and Archie, 18—whom he shares with ex Louise Anstead—to the London premiere of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in January. (He’s also dad to 6-year-old Hudson, 6, with ex Christina Haack.)
Shortly after the event, Ant also praised his longtime girlfriend’s “utterly brilliant” performance in the film.
“The lead actress was mesmerising and smoking HOT (I have a mega crush on her!),” he wrote on his Instagram post at the time. “I’ve let the missus know she’s my hall pass.”
