Slightly hyperbolic post title, as I don’t believe that that there actually needs to be “one best,” but I have been rewatching The Raid series and I sincerely think that those fight scenes really brought the genre to a new level. One of the main factors is obviously the incorporation of pencak silat as a fighting style, much as Ong Bak previously impressed with its depiction of Muay Thai. Further though, the physicality, cinematography, and scene direction to capture it literally hits in a way that few, if any, other films can match. Spoilers! Attached is the sequel’s “hammer girl and baseball bat man” scene, which really showcases the overall effect. Besides the John Wick and Ong Bak series, any other competitors or suggestions?
