The hosts of Today Third Hour playfully teased one of its stars who is expecting and will be due in January.
During an October 22 segment, NBC Correspondent Emilie Ikeda wholesomely visited a pumpkin patch in Hillsdale, New Jersey, in celebration of fall activities.
Emilie alerted: “Guys, there is a very strict rule. If you come to a pumpkin patch, you also have to buy an apple cider donut. I will abide by the rules. Cheers to you guys.” Al Roker replied: “That’s the only reason to go.”
Dylan Dreyer revealed that before working in the big leagues at Today, she had a unique job, sharing: “I used to make the apple cider donuts at Battle of the Orchards in NJ and I used to [put] cinnamon sugar – some were plain – some were with powdered sugar.”
Al commented: “You had so many food-related jobs. It’s cool.” Dylan admitted: “I did. It’s no wonder why I love food so much.”
Craig Melvin concluded: “Em thank you,” however, Al joked: “Don’t you have to eat another [donut] Em cause you’re eating for two?”
Emilie showed off her tray of donuts while proudly announcing: “I’ve got five in here.”
Al teased: “Are you trying to tell us something?” Dylan expressed: “I thought she was just holding a pumpkin under her jacket.”
Emilie joked: “Quintuplets?” Craig loudly yelled “No!” Back in August, Emilie announced on Today Third Hour that she was pregnant for the first time and was five months pregnant at that point.
She expressed: “I’m so excited and now I’m in the stage where I can feel the baby kicking.” Dylan commented: “That’s the most amazing stage to be in.”
Emilie continued: “And I think [even if] I might be in a bad mood, I might be preoccupied, I might be locked into a script, and then I feel this baby kick and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, it’s my baby.'”
She added that she and her husband Pat will wait until she gives birth to find out the baby’s sex, explaining: “Pat and I are a little psychotic and we’re going to wait.”
Craig commented: “That’s what we did. Be surprised.” Emilie replied: “It feels like the ultimate surprise.”
The team celebrated her festive news by presenting her with a gift basket which included ginger ale, and Emilie commented: “I’ve been living off of ginger ale. I was very nauseous in my first trimester.”
Dylan inquired: “Are you feeling okay?” Emilie shared: “Now in my second trimester yeah, but if you asked me in the first, I was absolutely miserable.” Being that she’ll be due in January, Craig commented: “You could have one of those January 1st babies.”
Dylan interjected: “I have a January 2 baby. I will say, it’s not the best birthday on the calendar.” Craig congratulated her as Dylan added: “We are so happy [for you].”
