Love Through a Prism arrives in January
From Wit, the studio that animated the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, comes a new Netflix original anime, Love Through a Prism, with story and character design by Yoko Kamio, the creator of Boys Over Flowers, the popular manga that inspired many live-action shows and films.
Lili Ichijoin is a promising young painter from Japan who moves to London in the early 1900s to attend the prestigious Saint Thomas Art Academy. There, she meets Kit/Christopher, the school’s ace artist, who is also the scion of a noble family that looks down on his artistic pursuits. Judging from the trailer, the two will fall in love while navigating the challenges of life at an art academy and the cultural and social differences between them.
The premise is pretty similar to that of Boys Over Flowers, which takes place in a school attended by the scions of the Japanese elite, upturned by the arrival of a girl from a middle-class family. The London setting and the artistic themes, however, make Love Through a Prism stand out. Regarding the staff, it’s notable that the series is directed by Kazuto Nakazawa, known for directing the anime sequence of Kill Bill: Volume 1.
Netflix keeps investing more in its original anime portfolio, and this series is a pleasant step away from action-focused shows such as Castlevania and Baki, and will appeal instead to fans of Beastars and the brilliant The Summer Hikaru Died.
Love Through a Prism arrives on Netflix on Jan. 15, 2026.
