Beetlejuice 3 and A Minecraft Movie 2 will be happening “imminently.”
Warner Bros. released a sequel to 1988’s Beetlejuice, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, last September. Directed by Tim Burton, the movie saw Michael Keaton reprise his role as the titular character, while Winona Ryder also returned as Lydia Deetz. The film was a hit, making approximately $451.9 million at the global box office.
The studio also just recently released A Minecraft Movie, which is directed by Jared Hess and serves as an adaptation of the popular video game by Mojang Studios. So far, A Minecraft Movie has grossed $351 million at the global box office. It has surpassed Captain America: Brave New World to become the highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far.
What are the Beetlejuice 3 and A Minecraft Movie 2 updates?
Speaking with Deadline, producers Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy were asked if A Minecraft Movie 2 and Beetlejuice 3 were in development at this time.
“Imminently, “De Luca answered. “The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.”
Abdy added, “Adding to things we’re excited about, Andy Serkis doing the Gollum film, Drew Goddard writing a new Matrix. We’re super excited about Amblin developing with Chris Columbus, new entries in the Gremlins and Goonies franchises. We just had a dynamite check-n with Philippa Boyens on Gollum, and I think we’re about to get that script in May. Cat in the Hat and the second Dr. Seuss adaptation Jon M. Chu is co-directing…there’s really great stuff on the horizon.”
No release dates for Beetlejuice 3 or A Minecraft Movie 2 have been announced at this time. A Minecraft Movie is currently playing in United States theaters, while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is available to stream on Max. The original Beetlejuice, meanwhile, is streaming on AMC at this time.
