Since Fidough has finally become a part of Pokémon GO, many Trainers have been evolving theirs into Dachsbun and have figured out the best moveset for the baked goods-themed Dog Pokémon. This adorable Pocket Monster joined the franchise in Generation 9 through the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. Fidough’s evolution has been a great Fairy-type to use in the early parts of single-player RPG campaigns, although the case of how good Dachsbun is in Pokémon GO is quite different.
Nevertheless, if you’ve already made the most of the Fidough Fetch Event to reap various rewards, giving your Fidough the best set of attacks to have an extra usable Fairy-type won’t hurt either. In fact, it might even be usable for some of the lower-level bosses in Pokémon GO’s latest Raid boss schedule. You just need to be aware of Dachsbun’s competitive weaknesses as well as its strengths.
Best Moves To Use With Dachsbun
Charm & Play Rough
The best moveset for Dachsbun in Pokémon GO is having Charm as its Fast Attack and Play Rough as its Charged Attack. Both are Fairy-type attacks, and using these moves will grant Dachsbun a 20% STAB (same-type attack bonus) that activates whenever any damage-based attack is used by a Pokémon of the same type. Dachsbun can only use non-Fairy-type moves besides Charm and Play Rough, like Bite and Body Slam.

So, choosing Charm and Play Rough is the only ideal way to get the most out of Dachsbun. Since Fidough’s evolved form has a relatively low Attack stat, currently at around 159, it’s essential to boost its offensive prowess however you can in this way. Charm and Play Rough are at least two of the stronger Fairy moves between Fast and Charged attacks. With that, you can at least know you’re getting the best moveset possible.
If you’re putting Dachsbun against a Pokémon whom Fairy attacks won’t do much damage, like Poison-types, switch out Play Rough for Psychic Fangs or Body Slam. These alternative attacks won’t get a STAB, but will still do more damage than otherwise.
Is Dachsbun Good For Battles
Only As A Gym Defender
Unfortunately, Dachsbun is not very good to use in Pokémon GO, both in PvE and PvP. This is due to its aforementioned low Attack stat, making it ill-fitting for taking on stronger raid bosses. It can be a decent back-up against 3-Star or lower bosses that are weak to Fairy-type or Psychic-type attacks at the most, like Pokémon GO‘s Dynamax Machop.
On the other hand, it won’t really do any damage against stronger ones because of the survivability you’ll get out of it. It does have a decent Defense stat of 212, however, making it a slightly tanky Gym defender if you’re trying to earn more PokéCoins. Just remember to make sure Dachsbun learns Charm and Play Rough, and you’ll at least have the best moveset in Pokémon GO that it can use.
