According to an exclusive from Deadline, the two-time Oscar winner is in advances talks to star as Esther Greenwood in a film adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s sole novel, The Bell Jar, marking her first-ever appearance as an actress in a feature film.
Eilish’s role is a young woman who buckles under the pressure of societal expectations – a stretch for her – as she’s been pushing boundaries for years!
The film is slated to be directed by Oscar-winner Sarah Polley, who also wrote the screenplay.

In addition, Eilish’s latest world tour was captured in a concert film, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D, set to hit theaters on May 8, 2026.
Offering fans an immersive look at her live performances, the film is co-directed by acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron and promises a cutting-edge visual experience that brings audiences closer than ever to Eilish’s signature stage presence.
