Blake Lively has poked fun at a tragic mistake from the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl.
In the new ad for her canned cocktail brand Betty Booze, Lively has reprised her role of Serena Van Der Wooodsen, bringing back another key player from the series.
Zuzanna Szadkowksi, who appeared in the show as Dorota, joins Lively on a New York City park bench for what can only be described as a genius marketing tactic.

While Lively has gone on to appear in countless other major roles, she will perhaps always be best known as the star of Gossip Girl, so to see her recreate her iconic role is something fans are eating up.
In the commercial, both Lively and Szadkowksi appear to be taking on the roles of their former characters while also poking fun at them.
Lively is sitting on a park bench when Szadkowksi approaches and greets her in an American accent, losing the Polish accent her character has in the show.
When Lively points out she “sounds different”, Szadkowksi simply puts it down to “allergies”.
They then go on to play into the fan theory that Dorota should have been Gossip Girl (SPOILER: it was Penn Badgely’s Dan Humphrey who was ultimately revealed to be the voice behind the anonymous source).
Finally, Szadkowksi pulls out a few cans of Betty Booze and the duo, in character, chat about how delicious they are, but what happens next is truly of move of comedic genius from Lively.

Up to this point Lively has appeared to be wearing a very Serena van der Woodsen outfit in a sparkly couture dress and cardigan, but after saying her farewells and standing up from the park bench, something more is revealed.
As she walks away, Lively reveals a pair of baggy tracksuit pants and ugg boots hiding beneath her couture look.
Die-hard Gossip Girl fans will recognise the call-back but for those whose memories need a little more jogging, may we point you in the direction of Gossip Girl season six episode four around the 15-minute mark.
In a classic television blunder, there is a moment in the episode where the camera pans out on Lively as Serena, revealing a pair of cozy tracksuit pants underneath her bodycon orange dress.
Some fans didn’t think twice about the ensemble, considering the 2000s was a questionable time for fashion, but it turns out Lively had just been keeping comfortable in between takes.

While it may have been a mistake at the time, it’s since gone down in Gossip Girl history.
And with the clip recently resurfacing on TikTok, it’s no wonder Lively included the iconic call-back in her Gossip Girl themed ad.
