Everyone’s favourite Aussie cartoon family is coming to the big screen.
Bluey and her family including her dad Bandit, mum Chilli and younger sister Bingo, are set to star in their first feature-length film.
The news was announced by animation powerhouse Disney with BBC Studios, supported by the government through Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.

“Delivering the same charm and humour that made the television series a global phenomenon, the movie will continue the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her mum, dad and her little sister, Bingo,” the announcement said.
The movie will be produced by Amber Naismith, who is the award-winning animation producer behind Happy Feet, The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie.
Richard Jeffery, who directed all three series of Bluey so far, will return to co-direct the film.
Bluey‘s creator Joe Brumm will be an executive producer on the project and says he’s thrilled with the “natural” next steps for the beloved Aussie family.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,” Brumm said in a statement.

“I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
Brumm also said he’s “excited” to be bringing “this new Bluey story to the big screen”.
While the voices of the characters – including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack who play Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit Heeler, respectively – will be a part of the big screen adventure, the story is not yet known.
But there’s still a little bit of a wait before you need to get your popcorn at the ready – the movie won’t be in cinemas until 2027.
It will enjoy a release in cinemas worldwide, before streaming on Disney+ internationally.
In Australia, after it’s cinematic release, it will be available to watch on ABC iview and ABC Kids.
The show – about the family of blue heelers, the breed of Australian cattle dogs – has 154 episodes under its belt already and another season on the way.
