The MCU is starting from scratch! Tom Holland teases that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be a “fresh start” for his version of the iconic hero on the silver screen.
Over the past decade, Tom Holland has become one of the most recognizable actors on the planet. His time in the MCU has ingratiated him to fans, enough to earn him a second trilogy when most actors playing the character can’t even finish their initial runs! However, that doesn’t mean his time as Spider-Man is without any issues. While many fans hopes for a clean break with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, recent rumors have left them worried about the direction of the franchise.
However, it seems as though there may be more light at the end of the tunnel than most expected. During CinemaCon, which saw the announcement of the official title and logo for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland sent in a small video to discuss the project. While he didn’t reveal much about the MCU’s long-awaited sequel, he did reveal that the film will be a “fresh start’ for the webhead.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” Holland remarked (via Entertainment Weekly). ” I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day A Fresh Start?
This comment by Tom Holland should come as a huge relief for fans. Many believed that the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day would only serve to reverse the ending of No Way Home, ending in a return to the status quo of the MCU. If the star is to be believed, it seems as though a true fresh start with a new supporting cast is in store for the character as production starts to pick up in the coming months.
Dollars to donuts, the title Spider-Man: Brand New Day is meant to be a play on One More Day, the infamous storyline where Spider-Man sacrificed his marriage and daughter to bring Aunt May back from the dead. While some may worry that the MCU is adapting such a controversial story, the title change suggests that the script may focus on Tom Holland’s hero attempting to bring his aunt back, only to realize that the only way to move on is to move forward.
