Captain America: Brave New World was recently pushed back to 2025, influenced by the ripple effects of the recent Hollywood strikes, leading to a comprehensive reshoot agenda this summer. These reshoots may result in the removal of the Serpent Society and revamps to several action scenes, among other changes. Amid this overhaul, a leak has revealed one of the movie’s main villains.
One of the most anticipated elements of Captain America: Brave New World is the introduction of Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk, a new adversary for Sam Wilson’s Captain America. The movie also features the return of Samuel Stens, who Marvel fans will remember from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
Our first look at Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader for Captain America 4
Since the events of The Incredible Hulk, Sterns has transformed into The Leader, one of the Hulk’s most formidable foes in the pages of Marvel comics. Actor Tim Blake Nelson is set to reprise his role as Sterns, with recently revealed promotional from scooper “CanWeGetSomeToast” art giving fans their first glimpse of what the MCU’s version of The Leader will look like.
The Leader is a classic character from the Marvel Comics universe, first appearing in Tales to Astonish #62 back in December 1964. Created by the legendary duo of writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, The Leader quickly established himself as the formidable archenemy of the Hulk.
Originating from a humble background as a janitor in Boise, Idaho, Sterns’ life took a dramatic turn following exposure to gamma radiation, similar to that which transformed Bruce Banner into the Hulk. However, instead of gaining physical might, Sterns evolved into a green-skinned genius with a vastly enhanced intellect and ambition, adopting the moniker The Leader.
Julius Onah is directing Captain America: Brave New World, working from a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The cast of the movie also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Shira Haas as Sabra, with Xosha Roquemore on board in an undisclosed role.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
