While he may have survived decades of undead hordes in the Evil Dead franchise, horror legend Bruce Campbell reveals which Disney franchise he wishes he could have spent more time in before his character met its end. The actor is well-known for his role as the unlikely hero Ash Williams in frequent collaborator Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise. Despite his horror career, however, Campbell has made several appearances in more family-friendly affairs, from voicing characters in animated features to brief but memorable cameos in some of the most well-known superhero movies of the 2000s.

As Campbell is known for his many one-liners, Variety sat down with the actor to question whether he could pinpoint which lines came from each specific entry in his filmography in their latest YouTube video. With his third quote, Campbell was initially confused by which of his many quip-heavy characters uttered the line, only to learn that it was from his brief cameo as Rod “Torque” Redline in Cars 2.

Now you’re starting to- You’e going beyond the golden mouldies. “I was just wearing a disguise. You guys are stuck looking like this.” That’s a typical line I would say, you gotta help me on this one… That was a small little cameo, I didn’t even change history with that one.

Campbell revealed that he wished that he had a larger role in the animated Pixar sequel. The actor joked that was primarily due to the lucrative potential behind the residuals that can be gained from repeat viewings.

It was a bummer that I died because those are great for residuals, so you really wanna live in an animated movie. ‘Cause kids will watch an animated movie a thousand times. They pay you 12 dollars to record it. You don’t do it for that, you do it for the seven years of residuals you’re gonna get from little Billy going “I gotta watch that again! Can I watch that this week?”

Campbell’s Character Played An Important, But Brief Role

With his extensive list of previous voice-acting roles in film, television, and video games, it is unsurprising that Campbell is incredibly familiar with the ins and outs of the voice-acting industry. Campbell would even reprise the role of Redline in the tie-in video game to Cars 2.

Despite this, it is unlikely that Redline would have had an expanded role in the Pixar sequel. Within the movie, he is the car that drags Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) into the espionage plot and becomes the unfortunate example of the movie’s deadly chemical reaction to Allinol fuel. As such, Redline fulfills his role within the narrative.

Redline Evokes Many Campbell Traits

Though it was a brief appearance, Redline was created specifically with Campbell in mind. As seen with the actor’s own confusion, the brash, big-headed, and in this case, literally motor-mouthed quip could sound at home in any of his other characters, such as Evil Dead‘s Ash. Furthermore, despite mixed reviews, Cars 2 does stand out as a financial success and the strongest-performing movie in the franchise. As such, it is obvious that Campbell’s brief recording session has been incredibly rewarding as time has passed.
